Cute Apple Pretzels

These sweet apple pretzel treats are a fun and easy way to celebrate fall, whether you’re making back-to-school snacks or festive apple treats for a party. A quick dip in red candy melts gives classic pretzel twists a glossy, apple-like finish, and a simple leaf adds the perfect finishing touch.

They look impressively detailed, but don’t worry—no special tools or decorating skills required. With just a few ingredients and some prep ahead, you’ll have a tray of adorable fall treats ready in no time.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups pretzel twists
  • ½ cup red candy melts
  • ¼ cup white fondant
  • Green food coloring

TIP: You can also use green M&M’s if you don’t want to use fondant

Steps to make apple pretzels

1. Line your workspace with parchment paper.

2. Color the fondant green using food coloring. Wear gloves to avoid staining your hands.

3. Form small triangular leaf shapes from the green fondant, making one leaf per pretzel. Set aside.

TIP: Green M&M’s can also be used instead of fondant

4. Melt red candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl per package instructions (I do 50% power in 30 second intervals, stirring between).

5. Coat each pretzel completely in melted red candy. Lift out with a fork and tap off excess coating against the bowl edge.

6. Transfer coated pretzel to parchment and immediately attach a fondant leaf. Continue with remaining pretzels.

7. Let treats sit for 10 minutes until coating hardens completely.

Storage: Pretzel apples should be stored in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
